The most common charges that we see for Washington fishing violations are called Recreational fishing in the first degree. Or recreational fishing in the second degree. One of those charges, the second degree just means you have too many fish. Or you have some wrong species of fish. Or you simply have a fish without a license. The maximum penalty for that charge is 90 days in jail. Now recreational fishing in the first degree means that you have double the amount of fish youre supposed to have. Other words, if the limit is 4 salmon, and you have 9 salmon. Well then that's a more serious charge recreational fishing in the first degree. And you can go to jail for a year for that charge.
